Money is different when there’s two of you.

You can love each other deeply and still have completely different ideas about money. One of you saves. One of you spends.
One wants to know every number. The other would rather not look at the spreadsheet.
One wants to retire early. The other wants to travel now.
That’s normal.
BlendedFin is about figuring out how to build a financial life that works for both of you. Because “just talk about money” isn’t exactly a strategy.

THE PERSON BEHIND BLENDEDFIN

Hi, I'm Kim.

I fell down the personal finance rabbit hole nearly 10 years ago after reading Ramit Sethi’s I Will Teach You to Be Rich. I was hooked. But when I got married five years ago, I learned pretty quickly that knowing how to manage your own money and figuring out how to manage money with another person are two very different things. My husband and I both came into the marriage with dependents — his: two kids; mine: a dog with an autoimmune disease and, notably, no job of his own.Figuring out the numbers wasn’t the hard part. The hard part was the months of conversations about priorities, habits, emotions, opinions, and all the beliefs about money we’d picked up long before we met each other. We had to figure out how to stop thinking like two individuals splitting shared expenses and start building a financial life that actually worked for both of us.That experience made me fascinated by the people side of money — the habits, emotions, conversations, and decisions behind the numbers. I went on to complete a graduate program in Financial Psychology & Behavioral Finance at Creighton University, studying with some of the leading voices in the field.BlendedFin is here to make money conversations a little less awkward, a lot more useful, and maybe even fun.

This calculator provides illustrative estimates for educational purposes only. Projections assume annual compounding, contributions made annually, and no withdrawals before the later retirement date. If one partner retires earlier, that person's balance is assumed to remain invested until the other partner reaches retirement. Actual results will vary based on investment returns, fees, taxes, contribution timing, withdrawals, account types, and other factors. This is not financial advice.
